ABOUT SAMMY HUH

Korean-American tenor Sammy Huh is a performer and educator based in the Mid-Atlantic region. Praised for his “delectable top notes” (DC Metro Theater Arts) and a voice that is “powerful . . . conjuring up an extraordinarily delicate sweetness” (Communities Digital News), he has built a dynamic career in both opera and education.

Mr. Huh earned his Bachelor of Music from The Juilliard School and his Master of Music from the University of Maryland Opera Studio. Since 2016, he has served as Voice Professor and Director of Opera Workshop at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). In 2021, he expanded his educational leadership as Director of Choral Activities at Paint Branch High School in Montgomery County Public Schools.

As a soloist, Mr. Huh has performed with Washington National Opera at The Kennedy Center, Washington Concert Opera, Maryland Lyric Opera, Chautauqua Opera Company, Aspen Opera Theater Center, Opera Camerata of Washington, The In Series, The Virginia Consort, and the Maryland Opera Studio, among others. He has also been featured in recital at venues including Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center, Washington College, the Embassy of South Korea, the Mansion at Strathmore, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum – Renwick Gallery.

His apprenticeship training includes work with the Chautauqua Opera Company, Aspen Opera Theater Center, and the Manhattan Summer Voice Festival. As a professional opera chorister, he regularly appears with Washington National Opera, Wolf Trap Opera, Maryland Lyric Opera, and is a proud union member of the American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA).

Mr. Huh has performed in masterclasses with artists such as Daniel Ferro, Malcolm Martineau, Mignon Dunn, Mark Padmore, and Anne Manson, and is the recipient of awards from the Enrico Caruso Memorial Scholarship, National Society of Arts and Letters, Young Singers Foundation, and the Lucrezia Bori Grant.

In addition to his musical career, Mr. Huh is a passionate advocate for financial literacy and an active investor and owner in business (RPM Underground) and real estate.
